The SharePoint Remove Account Site Security feature of USPM is a simple and
easy to use wizard that enables SharePoint Admins or other
delegated users to remove an account from a single site or
multiple sites across the environment in a single process. With multiple configuration
settings that enable you to target exactly how you want users to be
removed from SharePoint's Site Security model you'll now be
able to completely remove a account across the environment in a snap!
Current SharePoint Challenge(s):
SharePoint 2007 security architecture has become more standardized and
provides more consistent capabilities across the platform, however along
with this new architecture and security features comes more complex
management and reporting tasks. Some of the current challenges around removing user
site security are:
- No holistic user site security view.
SharePoint does not provide a holistic view of where a user or group
DOES have access across the environment and therefore can be removed. SharePoint's out of
the box view is limited to single site collections and does not display
entire site hierarchies.
- Multiple ways a user can have access.
There are a multitude of ways a user can be given access within SharePoint and no complete removal
tool to ensure removal of all the methods that provided access to a site.
- Sites Security Interface.
Site Security in SharePoint is managed directly from a individual sites interfaces. When removing a user from
multiple sites SharePoint administrators have to navigate to each sites interface to make changes and this
proves to be very time consuming.
- Web Application Policies override
security. Policies applied to the web application can now
override or alter the entire security for a user or group. These policies can still provide a user access
even when the user has been removed.

The SharePoint Remove Account Site Security Wizard provides a single process that enables SharePoint Administrators and designated users to remove users from multiple SharePoint
