Office SharePoint Server 2007 |
|
The SharePoint Clone Account Site Security feature of USPM is a simple and
easy to use wizard that enables SharePoint Admins or other
delegated users to clone site security from one user/group to another. With multiple configuration
settings that enable you to target exactly what sites and permissions you want cloned between the selected users.
Now cloning a users site security will be able to be done in a quick and easy process.
Current SharePoint Challenge(s):
SharePoint 2007 security architecture has become more standardized and
provides more consistent capabilities across the platform, however along
with this new architecture and security features comes more complex
management and reporting tasks. Some of the current challenges around cloning user
site security are:
- No cloning capability.
SharePoint does not provide a way to clone user site security settings.
- No holistic user site security view.
SharePoint does not provide a holistic view of where a user or group
DOES have access across the environment and therefore can be cloned. SharePoint's out of
the box view is limited to single site collections and does not display
entire site hierarchies.
- Multiple ways a user can have access.
There are a multitude of ways a user can be given access within SharePoint and no complete clone
tool to ensure proper cloning of all the methods that provided access to a site.
- Sites Security Interface.
Site Security in SharePoint is managed directly from a individual sites interfaces. When cloning a user across
multiple sites SharePoint administrators have to navigate to each sites interface to make changes and this
proves to be very time consuming.
- Web Application Policies override
security. Policies applied to the web application can now
override or alter the entire security for a user or group. These policies provide a user access and therefore need to be considered from a proper cloning.
SharePoint Clone Account Site Security : Business Value
The SharePoint Clone Account Site Security Wizard provides a single process that enables SharePoint Administrators and designated users to clone a users site security from
one user/group to another with a whole host of configuration capabilities. This wizard will enable the process of cloning user site security across the environment to be completed in
a matter of seconds.
