Feature compatability Works with: Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Office SharePoint Server 2007
The SharePoint Add Account Site Security feature of USPM is a simple and easy to use wizard that enables SharePoint Admins or other delegated users to add multiple accounts to a single site or multiple sites in a single process. With multiple configuration settings that enable you to target exactly how you want users to be added to SharePoint's Site Security model you'll now be able to add a user across the environment in a blink of an eye!

Current SharePoint Challenge(s):
SharePoint 2007 security architecture has become more standardized and provides more consistent capabilities across the platform, however along with this new architecture and security features comes more complex management and reporting tasks. Some of the current challenges around adding user site security are:
  • No holistic site hierarchy view. SharePoint does not provide a holistic hierarchical view of all the sites within the environment where a user can be added.
  • No holistic site security inheritance view. SharePoint does not provide a holistic view of site security inheritance making it extremely difficult to determine where site security is being inherited and managed from.
  • Sites Security Interface. Site Security in SharePoint is managed directly from a individual sites interfaces. When adding a user to multiple sites SharePoint administrators have to navigate to each sites interface to make changes and this proves to be very time consuming.
SharePoint Add Account Site Security : Business Value
The SharePoint Add Account Site Security Wizard provides a single process that enables SharePoint Administrators and designated users to add users to multiple SharePoint sites with a whole host of configuration capabilities. This wizard will allow the process of adding users to site security across the environment to be completed in a matter of seconds.

Key Benefits/Capabilities:

Provides a single process interface for adding users/groups.. Easy to use wizard interface that walks the user through adding multiple users to multiple sites with a variety of permission settings.

Visual Hierarchical Site View w Security Inheritance. View all the sites in in a hierarchical format with easy to read icons representation of security inheritance settings. Visually see where you can add the users/groups.

Add to SharePoint Groups or Direct Permissions. Wizard settings allow a user to determine if they want to add the selected users/groups to be added to SharePoint Groups or Direct permissions within the selected sites.

Add Same of Different Permissions when adding multiple users/groups. When adding multiple user/groups a user may select whether all users will be setup with the same permissions or different permissions.

Feature Delegation. The USPM framework allows individual features to be delegated out to specific users. This capability will enable SharePoint Administration teams to determine who is allowed to execute and leverage the power of USPM.

Auditing Capabilities. Each USPM feature that makes changes to SharePoint's settings, using the SharePoint API, creates an audit trail allowing the determination of who executed the USPM feature and what changes were made.

...and much much more!   These are just some of the overall key benefits of the SharePoint Add Account Site Security.
